Dental cone beam CT: An updated review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a diverse 3D x-ray imaging technique that has gained significant popularity in dental radiology the last two decades. CBCT overcomes limitations of traditional two-dimensional and enables accurate depiction multiplanar details maxillofacial bony structures surrounding soft tissues. In this review article, we provide an updated status on summarise technical features currently used scanner models, extending to recent developments technology, clinical aspects, regulatory perspectives dose optimisation, dosimetry, diagnostic reference levels. We also consider outlook potential techniques along with issues should be resolved providing clinically more effective examinations are optimised for benefit patient.

Biologic Width around Dental Implants: An Updated Review

Soft tissue-implant interface is an important anatomical feature contributing to the long-term success of dental implants. Based on the available evidence, different factors may influence biological width around implants including the surgical technique, implant loading, implant surface properties, abutment materials, implant position, and width of the peri-implant mucosa. The purpose of the pr...

Cone beam CT for dental and maxillofacial imaging: dose matters.

The widespread use of cone-beam CT (CBCT) in dentistry has led to increasing concern regarding justification and optimisation of CBCT exposures. When used as a substitute to multidetector CT (MDCT), CBCT can lead to significant dose reduction; however, low-dose protocols of current-generation MDCTs show that there is an overlap between CBCT and MDCT doses. More importantly, although the 3D info...

Respiratory correlated cone beam CT.

A cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner integrated with a linear accelerator is a powerful tool for image guided radiotherapy. Respiratory motion, however, induces artifacts in CBCT, while the respiratory correlated procedures, developed to reduce motion artifacts in axial and helical CT are not suitable for such CBCT scanners. We have developed an alternative respiratory correlated proc...

Artefacts in cone beam CT

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is the modern third dimension applied in the field of oral maxillofacial region. With lower radiation dose compared to conventional CT, its applications in dentistry has increased tremendously. Artefacts can seriously degrade the quality of computed tomographic (CBCT) images, sometimes to the point of making them diagnostically unusable. To optimize image qu...
